SUMMER HOLIDAY EVENTS IN SHEFFIELD

To mark the start of the school summer holidays, this weekend is absolutely bursting at the seams with summer events and activities. We are quite literally spoilt for choice. But here are some details about our top three events taking place over the next few weeks... enjoy!

While the pros battle it out at the Open Championship, golfers in South Yorkshire can get a sense of adventure in a championship with a difference.

Paradise Island Adventure Golf is putting on an event to find its very own champion. Kid’s, families, couples and friends are invited to take a swing in what is hoped will be one of England’s biggest ever adventure golf competitions.

Opened in February 2012, Paradise Island is an indoor leisure experience that features two 18 hole adventure golf courses, set inside a tropical paradise. The 14000 sq/ft site is full of twists, turns, humps and bumps leaving traditional crazy golf a ‘fairway’ behind.

The activity is a first for Sheffield and is taking place between 19 and 22nd July. To take part in the competition players can turn up anytime between 10am and 9pm on the 19 - 22 of July or to avoid disappointment BOOK a tee-off time on 0114 256 0950.

SHAKESPEARE GOES OPEN AIR IN SHEFFIELD THIS SUMMER
GB Theatre Company

Sheffield’s newest open air events space is set to welcome Shakespeare in a series of performances this summer.

GB Theatre Company will take to the stage, or rather the grass, this August at the new Ampitheatre, Sheffield’s South Street Park.

The touring company will be performing two epic pieces of Shakespeare’s work – The Tempest and The Taming of The Shrew, with a series of performances between Wednesday 1 and Saturday 4 August.

These will be the first performances at the open–air Amphitheatre which overlooks Sheffield. The Amphitheatre is a stunning theatrical location cut into the hillside above Sheffield's main station. It has echoes of Ancient Greece overlooking the Steel City.

The cast of outstanding professional actors are directed by Jenny Stephens (director of BBC Radio 4's The Archers) and Jack Shepherd (of ITV's Wycliffe fame). The performances in Sheffield are part of a wider GB Theatre Company tour of the UK, visiting Reading, Bristol, Norwich, Chepstow, Suffolk, Warwick, Cornwall, London and West Sussex as well as Sheffield.

Tickets are £15 each or £12 for concessions. Tickets are available online from the GB Theatre Company at http://gbtheatrecompany.com/bookings/ Sheffield Theatres at www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk, or the Sheffield Theatres Ticket Office: Crucible Theatre Box Office, 55 Norfolk Street, Sheffield S1 1DA.
